GOLDEN BOOT – MIDWEEK UPDATE – WELCOME FIONN, BB ON FIRE, PADDY STILL THE DADDY

April 12, 2019

No midweek change at the top of the table. Paddy sits on 32, fending off the young challengers .... so far!

Paddy McGeown, U17 Star – 32 goals. Time

running out for desperate last minute challenges!

Some significant developments in second place, though.

Firstly, let me introduce Fionn McCann of 11 Star. He has been banging goals in all season, but his managers never told us about them, so we are only finding out now, very late on in the season.

Naughty, naughty managers. They have been given a good boll ........ eh, I mean, a sound, well reasoned reminder about the need for openness, transparency and good governance ..... yes, that’s what I meant!

So, it’s welcome to the table, Fionn. Better late than never! We don’t even have a photo yet. Fionn has scored twenty five goals this season and parachutes into second place.

The other big news this midweek concerns Brendan “net buster” Blaney. With the hour going forward the mid week matches are coming thick and fast. (Like our strikers, although some of them aren’t that fast. Behave!) BB has used the extra daylight and the balmy spring evenings to bang home, blast home, head home, hoof home five goals in three matches ... and that’s on top of his four during last week! So, he too, has jumped into second spot, also with twenty five goals.

Brendan Blaney, U16 – 2nd on 25 goals now.

I told you all not to write him off. I did!

Other teams have caught onto Conaill Taggart. He tends to be very closely marked now and his goal rate has suffered, accordingly. However, oul’ Conaill doesn’t roll over easily and despite all the attention given to him, still found the net in mid week, to move up to 24 goals, now in 3rd spot.

Conaill Taggart, U11 – in 3rd place. He’s

closed the gap slightly on Paddy, but is it

too late?

Fourth and fifth places are held by the intrepid under 13s. Conall Breen sits on 19 in fourth place, followed by team mate, Joe Mellon, one back on 18.

Conall Breen, U13 –4th on 19.

Joe Mellon, U13 – 5th.  with 18.
