The son shone on the Aquinas club day this year and temperatures soared for hours on end.
There were competitions with footballs as prizes, the volley challenge, the speed gun, the soccer tennis and the penalty kick.
There was the cage and the Fortnite laser tag.
There were football tournaments for mini soccer up to under 14s
and six sided games for the older teams.
and for the really older teams ..
and there was, of course, the very popular Sweets challenge, which this year included tickets for Taylor Swift.
There was a much used ice cream van, the BBQ and, of course, Eve and Maria’s now legendary tuck shop.
There were medals and trophies for all the mini soccer players and the development squads up to under 12 to recognise their hard work and commitment through the year. From under 13 up to under 18 there were the traditional Managers’ and Players’ player of the year awards.
Then we had the Goldens – the Golden filling (haha, that’s a joke), the Golden Glove and the Golden Boot and, finally, the Des Brennan trophy.
And we also had great fun. It was a great couple of hours all round. everybody went home tired – even some of the children!
We have put a gallery of photos on, at Club day 2018. Hopefully, we will get some more on over the next week or so. there will also be more posts covering all the individual bits and pieces of the awards.
Stay tuned, folks!
