FIFA 19 Awards
FIFA 19 WINNERS – THE KINGS OF THE CONSOLES We had an amazing day at the YMCA on Saturday 26 January. 70 children took part in the FIFA 19 tournament. The younger ones, under 9 to under 11 played in the morning session while the older ones, who like their lie ins, from under 12 to under 15, twiddled with the consoles in the afternoon. There was a Cup and a shield tournament at each session, with a trophy for the winners of each, the runners up and the third and fourth placed

FIFA 19
FIFA 19 – 26 JANUARY The club ran it’s FIFA 19 tournament at the YMCA on Saturday. Attracting almost seventy children from eight to fourteen, it was a great success and very enjoyable, by the looks of things. There were several rounds of matches, tense knockouts, nerve racking penalty shoot outs, large crowds who enjoyed ... and endured the thrills, spills and emotions of the competitions. There was also less digitally complex football fun for the odd break away from the co

Golden Boot
GOLDEN BOOT – STILL PADDY AS JANUARY CLOSES With neither Paddy McGeown nor Conaill Taggart playing this week, it was a question of whether any of the chasing pack would use their break to close the gap on paddy with 26 goals and Conaill with 18.. Paddy McGeown, U17 Star – 26 goals. Took a breather this week. Conaill Taggart, U11 – in 2nd place. 18 goals. The challenge was taken up by Brendan Blaney of 16 Star. He knocked another one into the net to join Joe Mellon and Conall

Golden Glove
GOLDEN GLOVE – JACK’S HITS DOUBLE FIGURES Three clean sheets this week. The last came from our Golden Glove runaway leader, Jack McCrea. He’s now on ten and has increased his lead to six. JacK McCrea, Sen – another week, another clean sheet. Under 14 keeper, Pearse Lynch is still in second place with four clean sheets to date. Pearse Lynch, U14 – 4 clean sheets makes him Jack’s nearest challenger. Biding his time, maybe. Steven Hughes of 15 Star has been joined in third place

Clean Sheets
CLEAN SHEETS – 26 JANUARY Our keepers have been in fine form all season. I don’t think we’ve had a single week without at least one clean sheet. This week, we had three. Che Clarke kept one for 16 Star, Mark Hamill kept one for the 18s – the 18s’ seventh clean sheet, from five keepers – and in the afternoon “Clean Sheet” McCrea obliged for the Firsts.

Round Up
ROUND UP – 26 JANUARY Five wins, a draw and two defeats this weekend .. that w eknow about! 16 Star drew 2 – 2 in a match they had hoped to win. Both 15s had a frustrating weekend, losing 2 – 1 and 1 – 0. Not much in them and a soft penalty in one, but the result is the result. The 14s and 18s got the weekend off to a grand start on Friday evening, winning 4 – 1 and 2 – 0. Saturday morning saw the 16s also win 2 – 0 while in the afternoon, both Seniors continued their great s

Golden Boot
GOLDEN BOOT – NO CHANGE AT THE TOP. IT’S STILL PADDY BY EIGHT Paddy McGeown scored two in his teams amazing 6 – 6 draw. Conaill Taggart scored two too to keep the tally intact at the top. (Try saying that with a bit of drink taken!). Paddy has now scored 26 goals and it’s still only January. Conaill is no shirker either, his two (too) put him on 18 in second place. Paddy McGeown, U17 Star – 26 goals. Still knocking them in. Conaill Taggart, U11 – in 2nd place. 18 goals. Looks

Golden Glove
GOLDEN GLOVE – JACK’S HIGH FIVES AT THE TOP Three clean sheets this week, but none that affect Jack McCrea at the top of the table. He stills sits majestically at the summit – nine clean sheets, leading by a high five. JacK McCrea, Sen – didn’t play this week but his lead remains unaffected. Under 14 keeper, Pearse Lynch, continues to sit in second place with four clean sheets to date. Pearse Lynch, U14 – 4 clean sheets makes him Jack’s nearest challenger. Biding his time, ma

Clean Sheets
CLEAN SHEETS – 19 JANUARY Three clean sheets this weekend. Under 11 keeper got the ball rolling – or maybe that should be stopped the ball rolling – on Friday night in his team’s 8 – 0 win at Brook. On Saturday morning, Che Clarke also kept a clean sheet in a 0 – 0 draw out at Billy Neill, then the Seconds’ keeper, Conor McGeown, also recorded one in the afternoon.
