CLEAN SHEETS – 15 SEPTEMBER
We had another three clean sheets today, following on from our rock solid keepers last week. Pearse Lynch of the 14s, kept his second clean sheet in two games, the only 100% record in the club so far, to become the week two joint leader in the race for the Golden Glove. Stephen McVeigh of the 18s and then Gavin McDonald of the Seconds kept up Pearse’s good start for the weekend.

GOLDEN GLOVE – 15 SEPTEMBER
There’s two at the top in the early stages of the season in the race for the Golden Glove – Pearse Lynch with two clean sheets in his first two matches and the standard setter, Jack McCrea of the Firsts, who had two clean sheets notched up before anyone else had touched a ball. They sit on two. On one clean sheet already this season is Eoghan Turkington, from the opening day, and this week’s new entrants, Stephen McVeigh and former winner Gavin McDonald.

CLEAN SHEETS AND THE GOLDEN GLOVE
Jack McCrea had notched up two clean sheets even before the youth and childrens’ teams got started. If he wants the Glove, though, he’s going to have to fight for it as two keepers keep opening day shut outs. This week’s clean sheets came from Eoghan Turkington, back again between the posts, for 18 Star and Pearse Lynch of 14 Star.

LAST MAN STANDING
The club’s fund raising fun competition Last Man Standing starts on the weekend of 29 September. It costs £10 to enter. You pick a premiership team each week, you can’t pick the same team twice …. so you will eventually have to pick Man Utd, and if it wins you go through to the follwing week’s fixtures and do it all again. If it draws or loses, you’re out, I’m afraid. If you want to enter, give your tenner to your manager and send him your selection every Friday or earlier. I

HAT TRICKS AND GOLDEN BOOT
We had a hat trick of opening day hat tricks. The first one came on Friday night from Jude Holohan of 18 Star, a debut hat trick from Jude, who is new to the club. Jude also recorded the club’s first goal of the new season on the way to his treble. On Saturday morning Conall Breen recorded another debut hat trick, for the U13s and then Paddy McGeown, a blue’n’black veteran, put three in the net in 17 Star’s impressive 10 – 1 win at Weddereburn.
