The Firsts start their new campaign in the Intermediate League this Saturday. There away to Suffolk, up at Tildarg. Kicks off at 2.00pm. I know you’ve missed it all during the summer, so let’s get a good crowd out. In fact, you’ll see from the Firsts’ page, they have six matches in total in August, so its a packed start to the campaign. Seconds’ could be in action too, but their fixtures aren’t out yet. Watch this spot.
The Seniors held a fund raising five a side tournament over the summer at the Colin Valley Multi Sports site on Black’s Road. It was very well attended with teams from the Senior squad, from the under 17s, from managers and from other clubs playing a series of five a side matches for three hours. A big thanks to event organiser, John McAuley, and to the referees and all the players who took part. I have put two galleries of photos from the afternoon on the site. you can view
Well done to David McMullan and his intepid band of under 9s who went to the Rosario tournament in May and brought back one of the cups on offer. Here’s some snaps of the guys, enjoying the rewards of their labour.
Congratulations again to the winner of the Last Man Standing competition, Mark Cummings from the Senior squad. Here Club Chairman, Noel McKee, and fellow Senior Manager stalwart, Stephen McDonald present Mark with the cheque for £1,000. Thanks to all who entered and we’ll see you all again in Septemebr for the first LMS on the new season.
The summer camp was its usual great success this year. We had 84 children every day and the sun shone majestically. They were put through their drills in the morning and played football competitions, in and out of the cage, in the afternoon. And the sun still shone majestically! A big thank you to Neil, Shauna and John and their intrepid band of helpers – Conall, Eoghan, Peter Fitz, Ciaran G, Peter C, Patrick, Liam, Peter M, Jack, Jack, James, Maurice, Brendan and Ciaran D. T
