Which Team Will I Play For?

The team you play for is governed by your year of birth. The teams for 2009/2010 and corresponding years of birth are given in the table:

What about those age groups where there are two teams, one in the South Belfast league and one in the Down and Connor league or, at under 14, two teams in the South Belfast league Aquinas and Red Star?

If you fall into an age group that has two teams report to the Aquinas team in the South Belfast league, training session and manager. The manager will give you a trial with his squad. If he feels that you could fit into his team, you will stay with that team otherwise he will re-direct you to the Down and Connor or, at under 14, the Red Star team and manager for your age group.

If at any time, once you have joined the South Belfast Aquinas squad, you feel that you would get more football on a Saturday morning with the Down and Connor or Red Star team, you are free at any time to switch. However, please discuss this with your manager at the time.

What if I was born in 1999 or 2000 and can play for the league team or a minisoccer team?

If you were born in 1999 or 2000, you can choose whether you want to play eleven a side league football with the under 10s or South Belfast under 11s, nine a side football with the Castlereagh league under 11s, or you can opt for one or two more years in minisoccer where teams are smaller, seven a side, pitches are smaller too and the rules are more relaxed. It all depends on what you and your parents feel you would be happier doing.
