Under 10 Match Report: Aquinas Vs Glentoran (4-2) 03/10/09 Wedderburn

Aquinas U10s Claim another Good Win

Aquinas U10s put on another impressive all round team performance against Glentoran U10s to claim the 3 points in their latest match at Blacks Road on Saturday.

Aquinas started brightly and most of the early action was played in the Glentoran half of the pitch. This led to a number of early corners but Aquinas was unable to convert this early pressure into an early goal. Late in the first half the deadlock was finally broken. The ball came into the box to the feet of Peter Henvey who exchanged passes with Eunan Carlin before the ball was passed out to the right side of the Glentoran box where Dominic Clear picked up the ball and fired a shot low into the Glentoran net. Further chances came and went but the first half finished 1 nil to Aquinas.

The second half started with both sides applying pressure on the opposition defences. A good Aquinas move down the left hand side of the pitch eventually resulted in Angus Harron turning a cross into the Glentoran net for 2 nil.

Glentoran continue to hold on and a breakaway goal eventually led to them pulling one back. Glentoran had a further good chance to equalise but the chance rolled narrowly passed right hand post. This seemed to spur Aquinas on and shortly after Aquinas struck back with another goal from Angus Harron, but the best was still to come. The move started with right back Cormac Barr picking up the ball in his own half and surging forward into the Glentoran half before releasing the ball to Dominic Clear. Dominic Clear drove passed his marker and headed straight for the Glentoran penalty box where he dribbled around the out coming keeper before he coolly slotted the ball into the right hand side of the Glentoran net for the fourth Aquinas goal.

Chances came and went for both sides and Glentoran grabbed a late second goal.
