Under 10 Match Report: Aquinas Vs Bloomfield (13-0) 19/09/09 Blacks Road
Aquinas U10s Back to Winning Ways
The U10s got back to winning ways with an impressive performance in their second competitive South Belfast League match. Right from the first whistle Aquinas went on the attack applying pressure on Bloomfield. This lead to a string on early corners, delivered into the box by Dominic Clear, causing a number of chances but unable to yield an early goal.
Aquinas continued to apply pressure, especially with some rampaging runs down the right hand side by Cormac Barr and was eventually rewarded for their efforts by a goal from the right foot of Angus Harron. This was followed by first half goals by captain Peter Henvey, Dominic Clear, Niall Agnew and the pick of the first half goals been an outstanding individual effort Conor Johnston, as he twisted and turned one way and then the other before shooting into the right of the net.
Aquinas started the second half as they had finished the first, in the Bloomfield half of the pitch. Conor McGeown, Peter King, James Mellon and James Crossey provided a defensive wall enabling the team to push on in search of more goals.
More goals followed from Conor Johnston, Peter Heaney, Niall Agnew, Ciaran Crawford and Eunan Carlin. The pick of these goals being the two runs down the left wing by Ciaran Crawford and Niall Agnew both finishing their runs by firing the ball into the back of the net. The other goal of note was a Cormac Barr free kick from 10 yards outside the box, driven low into the box and causing confusion amongst the Bloomfield defence before being turned home by Eunan Carlin.
As the second half drew to a close Aquinas continued to press and John Morgan and Adam Smylie were unlucky not to add their names to the score sheet.
